The Philips Hue smart lighting range has been growing rapidly over the last few years, with different types of lamps and bulbs being added to the basic starter kits that originally launched.  One area it needed to expand into though has always been outdoors. There isn't currently a range of outdoor specific Philips Hue lights to make your porch, garden or driveway as colorful or secure as your home.

Now, beginning with 2018, a minimum of three consecutive NFL championship games will be contested beneath high-performance LED lights. That’s because the next three venues — U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens — feature advanced LED stadium lighting systems by Eaton’s Ephesus Lighting. Mike Lorenz, president of Ephesus Lighting, says it’s all part of a larger trend taking the sports world by storm.

While we have written and investigated instances of applying light in ways that impact the human circadian rhythm, there are new prospects for potentially treating illnesses or conditions using customized LED-based lighting systems that are developed via various scientific approaches.

LED-based horticultural lighting is an exciting opportunity for both enabling technology and SSL end-product providers. Developing an entire system of lighting around the needs of plants, versus those of people, presents different challenges and requires a science-backed approach that is continually tested and proven in various grower scenarios.
